How is NutriYummies different than other children's vitamins out there? NutriYummies is the first chewable, children's vitamin that tastes great and that is also sugar-free and allergen-free.Why is it important for NutriYummies to be sugar-free? Sugar, e.g. fructose or glucose, is commonly the first ingredient listed in children's chewable multivitamins because sugar effectively masks the taste of the vitamins themselves. Yet, because the amount of sugar needed is so high, the vitamin profile of the tablet suffers (you can't fit as many nutrients in the tablet). In addition to limiting the nutritional value of a tablet, fructose and other sugars present other problems. They increase blood sugar levels, promote tooth decay, and suppress the immune system.Intensive Nutrition believes that we don't have to compromise nutritional value for taste in a children's multivitamin, and, that we don't have to fool our children into taking a dietary supplement by making it taste like candy.go to topWhat is D-Mannitol? D-MannitolC6H8(OH)6 is a sugar derivative. Unlike sugar, however, it is not metabolized by the body, in fact, Mannitol is the preferred sweetener by diabetics because it does not raise blood sugar. As a consequence, Mannitol will not contribute to hyperactivity in young children (when sugar is believed to be contributor) nor will it contribute to tooth decay.D-Mannitol is derived from corn sugar but NOT the corn protein. Individuals with a corn food allergy can take D-Mannitol. If you have any concerns about this, please do consult with your allergist.go to topHow is NutriYummies hypoallergenic?
